Children's Ministry Leadership Conference

I first got involved in children’s ministry because I loved kids. I loved their hunger and how they are like little sponges. I threw myself entirely into ministry to kids, however I soon found out that kids were attached to other people called “parents.”

Your title may be “children’s minister” or “children’s pastor” but God does not want you to just minister to kids. In order to be successful as a children’s pastor you have to know how to effectively communicate with parents and to recruit and train volunteers.

It is also vitally important that you maintain a good relationship with other leaders in your church. One of the dangers of children’s ministry is that the leader can become isolated from the main church body. This is not spiritually healthy for you or the children you minister to.

Finally, not only does God want you to lead kids and peers, He also wants you to “lead up.” In other words it’s important that you learn how to have influence with your senior pastor. Other than Jesus, no relationship is more important to your children’s ministry than your relationship with your pastor. I am amazed at how many children’s pastors do not have a good relationship with their senior pastor. This has to change.

It’s time to take our ministry to children to a new level. It’s time to raise the bar. I have things in my heart for children’s pastors that I have never had the opportunity to share. I am excited about the Children’s Ministry Leadership Conference and hope to see you there.
